The University of Minnesota uses an A–F grading scale and offers options like S/N (pass/fail) and auditing, depending on the course. Students can view their grades and GPA in MyU: Academics, typically four business days after the term ends. Policies also cover incomplete grades, repeats, and grading criteria.
The liberal education requirements are designed to provide students with a broad academic foundation, including a diversified core in arts, sciences, and humanities; themes on societal issues; and a writing requirement. These components aim to cultivate well-rounded, informed, and engaged citizens.
The University reviews transfer credits to see how they apply to your degree. Use Transferology to check how courses might transfer, or submit unlisted courses for review. International credits are reviewed separately. Transfer credits can meet requirements but do not affect your U of M GPA.
