Choosing your major or career is important. The U of M offers resources to help you find the right fit. Career Services provides resume reviews, helps you explore internships and job opportunities, and hosts job fairs. Each college has a career center with counselors or coaches to guide major and career planning.
Center for Academic Planning and Exploration (CAPE)
The Center for Academic Planning and Exploration helps undergraduate students find a good-fit major. Through coaching, a 7-week course, drop-ins, and events, CAPE supports students in identifying their skills and interests, while using this insight to select a major or minor. CAPE services are available to any UMTC undergraduate.
Center for Community-Engaged Learning (CCEL)
The Center for Community-Engaged Learning connects students with transformational, hands-on experiences rooted in equity-driven partnerships. Explore volunteer resources, enroll in community-engaged courses, earn recognition through the Community Engagement Scholars Program, or study away via the National Student Exchange.
Major in anything. Minor in Leadership. No matter your college, you can earn the Leadership Minor by completing four core classes and one elective. Enhance your experience through learning abroad, internships, research, and other opportunities.
Learning abroad can be an impactful part of your education. Academic advisers and the Learning Abroad Center help you navigate the process with a 30-minute First Step Session. Whether interning in the UK, studying in Senegal, or taking classes in South Korea, advisers guide you to the right fit. Programs earn credit and keep you on track.
The UMN Passport Office is an official passport acceptance center, approved by the U.S. Department of State, open both to the public and the campus community. We also offer both printed and digital passport and visa photos, including for other countries such as China and Canada. Appointments are required.
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR)
The Office of Undergraduate Research connects students with faculty-mentored research opportunities. Through programs like UROP, International UROP, and summer initiatives, students gain experience, funding, or credit, to prepare for graduate school or careers. OUR also supports students with mentorship, presentation, and resources.
