The Academic Success Centers offer a wide range of services, including tutoring, academic skills coaching, writing and research support, and media and technology assistance, to help students achieve academic success and develop essential life skills.
Circle of Indigenous Nations (COIN)
COIN supports Native students with a welcoming on-campus space to connect with peers and staff. They offer 1:1 advising, resource connections, cultural programming, and an Elder in Residence. Students can also access academic support, Dakota and Ojibwe tutoring, weekly study nights, and community gatherings.
First-Gen Student Success Center
The First-Gen Student Success Center supports first-generation undergraduate students with tools, mentorship, and encouragement to thrive. Through events, one-on-one support, and a welcoming space to connect, the Center fosters an inclusive community where students can embrace their identity and celebrate success.
Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE)
The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence offers peer tutoring, study spaces, and community-building programs that support success and belonging. Signature programs like Living Learning Communities and the MCAE Kick-Off help students connect and thrive. All students are welcome to participate in MCAE’s offerings.
Online Learning Management Systems
The Online Learning Toolkit offers students key resources for navigating online classes, including how to use MyU, Canvas, and Zoom. It provides tips for staying organized, accessing course materials, and finding campus-specific tech support.
Student Writing Support offers one-on-one consultations to help students improve writing and build confidence. Open to all UMN–TC students, SWS provides in-person, Zoom, and chat appointments, plus resources for writing and grammar. Consultants respond to written work and ask questions to clarify and strengthen ideas.
The Study Space Finder helps University of Minnesota students locate study areas across campus, including libraries and classrooms. It shows seating, noise levels, and technology, with QR codes providing real-time availability. Instructions for reserving spaces are included.
The "Manage Your Time" tutorial from Effective U helps students build time management skills by setting SMART goals, prioritizing tasks, and balancing academic responsibilities with well-being. It offers tools like the Pomodoro Technique, Google Calendar, and the Assignment Calculator to support scheduling and deadline management.
Tutoring & Academic Success Center (TASC)
The Tutoring & Academic Success Center supports undergraduate students with free peer tutoring in over 250 subjects, academic success coaching, and skills-based courses. Services are offered in person and online, with additional resources like the self-paced Effective U modules to help students build strong academic habits.
